Our team at The Record and NorthJersey.com has teamed up with ProPublica to provide vital information to readers about voting issues that arise in North Jersey and beyond, but in order to do that, we need your help!
As part of the collaborative Electionland project involving newsrooms throughout the country and Pro Publica, a New York-based nonprofit, we will be using crowdsourcing to monitor problems ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
These efforts will provide our reporters in North Jersey with information on voting issues and trends on both a national and local scale.
That’s where you come in. In order to find out what problems voters face when casting their ballots, we need to hear from readers. Below are the tip lines that can be used to let us know what you’ve seen.
Voters can alert the project about everything from mail ballot delivery problems and changed voting locations to long lines and voter intimidation. You can help us. To let us know how your voting experience goes, here’s how to sign up and get in touch.
- SMS: Text the word VOTE, VOTA (for Spanish) or 投票 (for Chinese) to 81380 (standard text message rates apply).
- WhatsApp: Send the word VOTE, VOTA (for Spanish) or 投票 (for Chinese) to 1-850-909-8683.

As ballots are mailed and Election Day draws closer, the staff at NorthJersey.com and The Record will continue to provide the most up-to-the-minute information available about voting in New Jersey. The information provided to the tip lines will go to Pro Publica and to our newsroom.
